Two Man Scramble
Spring Valley Golf Course
January 28, 2017

This is the second year we've played this format and it seems to be quite popular. Seventeen teams competed in two flights for the prize money and valuable TOC points. Tournament Director, James Kaku, came up with some great team names that were in keeping with the upcoming Super Bowl. The rules of this playing format are described below.

  • Each player hits a shot from the tee.
  • After selecting the better of the two shots, each player hits a shot from that location and repeats that process until one of the two balls are in the hole.
  • The team must select at least six tee shots from each player.
  • Handicaps are computed by adding 35% of the lower course handicap to 15% of the higher course handicap to get the team handicap.

In the Falcons Flight, the team of Jeff Segol and Adolfo Pina (Team Onside Kickers) came out on top with a net 65 winning a card playoff over Doug Marinkovich and John Harris (Team Sacked). Third place was a tie among three teams (see below) who were just a shot behind at net 66.

Winner of the Patriots Flight was the team of John Osness and Jim Breedlove (Team Late Hitters) who shot a net 66. Two teams split the second place winnings (see below) with a net 68.

Thanks to all who came out on a sunny but soggy day to enjoy the competition and sloping fairways and greens of Spring Valley.
