Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, the annual event that we have all been waiting for, the 2020 Directors Cup has finally arrived. This year's heavy favorites John Driver, Adam Fink, Buzz Ogren (2019's Flight 2 Low Gross winner), and 2019's Low Gross Champion (Flight 1) Rocky Wolf were all in attendance. While the weather was unusually warm for the beginning of October and the Bay Area was continuing to battle smoke from the Glass Fire in Napa, our athletes were undeterred. This would be a weekend for the ages.
After the first round of play John Driver lead the First Flight with an astounding gross score of (69) followed by Jim Cowie (70) and Howard Stein (71). In our Second Flight Adam Fink and Buzz Ogren tied for first with a gross low of 83 and Heath Black finished out the top 3 with a 85. In our Third Flight, Karl Berta topped the list with an 84, followed by Prabhat Behera with 86, and Jack Woods with 90.
With day one under their belts, the heat was a cookin', and day two would prove to be an exciting one. This event offers our golers with a total of 1,472 points up for grabs and a total prize purse of $1,032. With every push of a drive, green in regulation, and lip of a cup, every shot today could separate you from the top and the bottom.
Congrats to our three Low Gross winners Jim Cowie (144 - 70/74), Adam Fink (168 - 83/85), and Prabhat Behera (175 - 86/89). For our Low Net winners, in Flight 1, and a total low net of 141 (66/75), congratulations to Howard Stein. Our Flight 2 Low Net winner goes to Buzz Ogren after posting, one shot better than Heath Black, 146 (72/74) to squeak out the win. Finally in Flight 3, Karl Berta managed to fight off the competition after an opening round of net 66 and finishing the two-days with a net 150 (66/84).
Congratulations to the winners and thanks to all who came out.
