Doug would like to step down as President next year. Current board members should start to consider roles for next year.
Jim Cowie will be the club ambassador.
Walt Joyce hole-in-one at #8 Sunnyvale.
The club balance at Baylands golf shop has gotten better, but still around $10,000. Need to continue encouraging members to spend their funds regularly.
Junior Golf donation – Club collected $2355 through donation drive
Excess funds – We have an excess of about $6000. Suggestions for where to spend funds were provided by Doug:
NCGA entries – Four Ball $300 per team (3 teams), Zone (4 man) $800 (1 team), Senior four ball $300 per team (3 teams). $2600 total
Director’s Cup for board members – board decided to drop this proposal.
Food for match play – Again, proposal dropped. Players playing will cover food
PGA Superstore Promotion – Need more information. Doug will get more details for later meeting.
Decision is to pay for the NCGA entry fees for qualifying teams, and consider added prize money for majors at a later date. Other proposals dropped.
Communications update – Newsletter went out. Lots of people opened. Discussion about moving to generic email addresses for board members to help combat spam.
Kevin Sprenger – New Head Pro at Baylands gave update on the course. A few new hires in the shop and outside attendants. Course has drained well, and carts can now drive off the path. The shop is going through changes. Will carry fewer clubs, but schedule more regular fitting days.
Tournaments – After some shuffling, all tournaments have directors. New Member has been re-scheduled for March 11th. Chuck will bring suggestions for away tournament formats (to replace TBD’s) to next meeting for discussion.
Finances – Doug shared current income and expenses. NCGA bill was paid out. First tournament prizes paid out.
Handicap – No exceptional scores. Only a few soft caps.
