Minutes – PAGC July 11, 2024 Board Meeting

• Attendees: Doug M., Chuck Pickett, John Driver, Rafael Carmona, Franco Montes

• Still missing minutes for June meeting (Niraj working on them)

• Chris and Niraj did an audit on 6/12/24, everything looked clean, passed.

• Baylands wants to increase fee next year, negotiated to $85 incl drink ticket ($5 increase)

• Doug discussed email complaint from Baylands about pace of play, pushed back to them – can’t play ready golf in match play. Will table the issue for now. Have to keep executing well on Saturday events. May want to roll back team matches from two to one next year. Lost team match 16-20 to Harding Park today.

• Need to assign responsibilities for different tasks; bookkeeper doing too many things?

• Budget Review:

  • Currently at 349 members, 2024 budget is based on 361. Will consider raising membership by $10 next year.

  • Looked at June budget numbers: most items are fine, currently $14,226 balance, projecting +693 for YE.

• Only had 54 players for Match Play, gave byes to top 10 based on standings

• Reviewed 2025 tournament schedule.

  • Probably not going to do San Juan Oaks in 2025, $170 cost. Lot of people like the course and maybe willing to pay the higher fee (Chuck).

  • Have a lot of expensive tournaments on schedule.

  • Santa Teresa won’t respond, hard to get them for tournament. Tentative for now

  • Monarch Bay is a possible option

  • Monterey “extravaganza” planned for July 26/27 at Bayonet/Poppy Hills

  • Everyone loves Moffett. What about Sunnyvale or Shoreline?

  • Crystal Springs – not everyone on board seems to agree about it

• Communications (Franco)

  • 78% opened the newsletter, better than 73% average over past) and 67% for regular communications

  • 22 members (8%) actually clicked on embedded link, better than 3% rate (from Google)

  • Feedback: bring back hole in one plaque (prediction: will have 2 before YE!)

    • No suggestions from membership for tournament venues

    • Not necessarily bad, people like venues, all are selling out

  • Would be glad to include pictures from tournament if sent in (timely)

    • How about pictures of tournament winners (Doug); quotes?

  • Doug: need to populate 2025 tournaments on Member Planet & GG

• Board: (Chuck) wanted to nominate Franco for President next year to maintain continuity; (Doug) Chris Walker may be a good candidate, Niraj may be a choice as he is retired and as the time to do the work. We also need three new board members. Other thoughts?
