August, 2024 Board Minutes
Minutes – Aug 1st PAGC Board Meeting
Attendees: Rafa Carmona, Chris Dierkes, John Driver, Niraj Jain, Doug Marinkovich, Chuck Pickett, Chris Walker, Nick Williams
July minutes were reviewed and approved
Pace of Play: Data from Baylands shows we are actually doing well in regular tournaments – 4:30 avg in Sr. 4-Ball; good relationship with both Kevin and Matt, they are probably passing along pressure from corporate to improve profitability
Saturday team match currently leading their group, need to book several slots for scheduling play at Baylands.
PAGC logo hats being developed, may use them for a minor fundraiser
Budget:
2024
Reviewed July numbers:
At 352 members; $20.87 above budget for Membership
End of July balance $13, 087.79; $2706 projected for YE (up from -$600); goal is to end year at $4-5K
July tournaments had only 53 & 54 players
Online scheduling (cost) continues to be a big line item, will be good candidate for cutting down next year
Discussion: Charge more for making payment via CC; alternative of using Zelle vs MP for payments next year – will require tracking/reconciling as many as 80 transactions for each tournament, add a lot of bookkeeping
Can test practicality by using Zelle for HMB tournament
PAGC Match Play: Sean vs Steve Guzman in one SF, Aditya Deohar vs Mahesh Subramaniam in the other.
2025 Courses: reviewed current list, have made deposits for several. “Del Monte is the coolest short course on the planet (Driver)”; Moffett is a good deal ($73), may want to sub it in place of Baylands for some events next year (some feel it is boring). Crystal Springs would be ok if they gave us a 8 or 8:30 tee time
2025 Budget discussion
Expecting membership (dues) of $25,458 in 2025 vs $22,290 in 2024
Planning a $10 membership increase (except $5 for Jr Exec)
Should check if there is any chance of increase in NCGA fees
GG is highest expense line item ($875/qtr)
Expected shortfall of $2294 at YE
Proposal to add cost of TD fees in tournament fees
Motion to add $2 & $3 respectively to home & away tournaments to cover TD fees
Seconded and approved unanimously
Communications: Franco is traveling, deferred to next meeting
Handicaps (Chris W): 49 Softcaps, 5 Hardcaps 2 weeks ago; scores ballooning probably because lot of people are playing tournaments under strict rules
Meeting Adjourned.
