Four Ball Tournament & NCGA Senior Four Ball Qualifier

  • Baylands Golf Links 1875 Embarcadero Road Palo Alto, CA, 94303 United States (map)

The tournament format is a 2-man team best ball (also known as Four Ball). This tournament will be selecting 3 teams to represent the Club in the NCGA Senior Four Ball tournament.

Though, please note that this a club tournament is open to all players regardless of age - there will also be a regular club Four-Ball event with 3 flights competing for prize money and TOC points..

To qualify for the NCGA Senior portion, players must be 55 years of age as of September 1st.  Three teams will advance to the next round of qualifying in August at a nearby course. Qualifiers from the second round of qualifying will move on to the finals at Poppy Hills on September 9 & 10, 2024.

Play will be at 85% of the course handicap. For the Senior NCGA qualifier, the maximum player index is 18.4 (25.4 for women) and for the club four-ball event there is a maximum  index of 54.0.

Tournament Results:

We had a great turnout of 68 golfers today!  The clear winner was pace of play as we did a good job of getting most of the rounds completed in (or close to) 4 hours and 30 minutes.  PAGC and Baylands thank you - lets keep up the good work!

And now, congratulations to the flight winners in the PAGC FourBall, particularly those in Flight 2 who overcame the gusty winds to post some great scores:

- Flight 1: Steve Guzman & Randy Shirbroun (-6)

- Flight 2: Tim Schleiger & Chris Walker (-8)

- Flight 3: Ken Arends & Buzz Ogren (-6)

For the Senior NCGA qualifier (where the 18.4 cap affected some groups more than others), we actually have 3 spots (not 2 as stated earlier) - the qualifiers were:

- Ken Arends & Buzz Ogren (-6)

- Steve Guzman & Randy Shirbroun (-6)

.....and a tie for 3rd place between:

- John Driver & Doug Marinkovich (-2)

- Patrick Beaulieu & William Wei (-2)

We will be reaching out offline to all the qualifiers to check their availability for the subsequent rounds and determine the 3 teams that will represent PAGC.
