PAGC Board Minutes – October 7th 2023
Attendance – Doug Marinkovich, Andrew Clausen, Nick Williams, Chris Dierkes, Franco Montes, Chuck
Pickett, Jim Cowie, Rafa Carmona, James Kaku
• Closed session discussion on disciplinary action for problem member. Discussion was around
process for possible expulsion from club. Bylaws states clear steps, including 10-day notice of
board meeting where a member discipline is scheduled to be discussed. No action taken at this
time. If member signs up for next event or membership renewal, we will take the issue up again
in a future meeting.
• 2024 Board Members – Doug, Andrew, and James are scheduled to come off the board. If
needed, bylaws allow for Doug to continue 1 more year if a new president cannot be
determined. Franco is interested in being on the board. Nick Williams has a couple people who
are interested. Secretary will set up electronic vote for the board at next meeting.
• Honorary Members for 2024 – 5 current honorary members will continue for next year. David
Hall moved away, so we need can give one new membership to a Baylands employees. Doug will
discuss with Kevin Springer. Also, Doug would like to extend new honorary memberships to
James Kaku, Trevor Heathorn, and Ed Barkley for service to the club over the years. Vote to be
held next board meeting.
• Live in Peace – Doug contacted organization to do a club drive at one of our events, maybe the
new member at beginning of the year. They also need volunteers for kid’s events. We got a
couple volunteers for the FirstTee program in the summer.
• Schedule for 2024 – Possibility to add San Juan Oaks once it re-opens in the Spring. Everything
finally locked down. Went with Half Moon Bay – old course, since they lowered the deposit
percent. Discussion of Del Monte having low attendance, but lots of board members like the
course, and it is still a good deal.
• Communications – Franco made some updates of newsletter, which had a 73% open rate. 64-
67% clicked a link in the most recent newsletters. People enjoy the winner’s quotes. Hoping this
will get more responses in the future. Banner added to the website to remind people about
renewal.
• Membership Renewal – about 290 members will renew automatically on 1/1/24. Rest will need
to renew manually.
• Two more events until the ToC. Chuck will organize this event, moving down the list until 36
players are signed up. At Corica Park North, the course is not rated. James has a plan for getting
stroke allocation and playing the course twice. Nick will give details of how his other group does
this.
• Handicap – 29 golfers are capped right now, but everyone is 2-4 shots from their max. 5
exceptional scores, including 1 in the stroke play.
• Finances – some recent tournaments were expensive. Current projected balance at end of year
is $5800 down from $6300. $5200 in deposits are out for 2024 (all but 2 events need deposits).
